“Obesity, just like anything else in life, is multi-factorial,” said Dr. Soha Dolatabadi, Good Samaritan Hospital.
Other contributors to your weight:
- Air pollution. Smog and other chemicals floating around can effect your hormone levels, which can effect your weight.
- Air-conditioning. You’re less likely to get up and move around if your body is at a constant temperature.
- Age. Studies show the older a woman is when she gives birth, the higher her child’s risk for obesity.
- Lack of sleep. If your body isn’t rested, there’s a shift in your appetite hormones. It could cause you to eat more throughout the day.
One woman’s story
For ER nurse, Claudia Guevara, her 12-hour shifts left her tired and constantly snacking.
“You just eat mindlessly and you just slowly start to increase the weight,” Guevara tells ABC.
At one point, 5-foot-tall Guevara tipped the scales at 200 pounds. To drop the unwanted weight, she started snacking on fruit and added more lean meats to her diet. She also hits Zumba classes several times a week to stay active.
Dieting options

While Guevara was able to diet on her own, others need a little assistance. A dieting medication, Xenical, has become a popular options for many. The medication keeps up to 30 percent of the fat you eat from absorbing into your body. It’s not a miracle pill, people who take it must diet and exercise to get the most from the medication.
Edrugstore.com sells Xenical. To learn more, or to have an online consultation, check out the company website.
