If Thanksgiving has already thrown a wrench in your diet, you’re not alone. A lot of people stray away from the healthy habits during the holiday. If you’re looking for a little weight loss help, you might consider taking a medication like Xencial to help shed some pounds.
What is Xenical?
Xenical is one of three drug approved by the FDA for long-term weight loss. This oral medication keeps about 30 percent of the fat you eat from absorbing into the body.
“It should be taken around the time of your meal and never with an extra high-fat meal, such as a cheeseburger, fries and milkshake. Side effects are fatty stools, abdominal discomfort, increased number of bowel movements in a day and fecal urgency, which can be very embarrassing at times,” writes Nurse Stephanie Whitley.
Unlike many over-the-counter weight loss products, “Xenical contains no stimulants which make it a safer option compared to many commonly used diet aids that contain caffeine and ephedra,” reports Yahoo! News.
What other options exist?
There are weight loss procedures, like lap band surgery. This surgery limits the amount of food the stomach can hold. A surgeon places a band around your stomach, making it smaller. This makes you feel full faster.
Like Xenical, the surgery is only effective when it’s used in combination with diet and exercise.
What are people saying about Xenical?
Here’s a look at several reviews from WebMD.
“I love this drug. I have found it much easier to monitor my fat intake to avoid the side effects. I have have lost 17 lbs already. The more fat you ingest the more side effects you suffer. So foods I was unaware of the high fat in I found out real quick to moderate them. It’s really simple.”
- “If you follow the rules you wont have a problem, but if your still cheating and have not changed your diet, you WILL have adverse side effects. Which, in my opinion, is the beauty of this drug. It keeps you accountable to your weight loss goal! The first time I took it I lost 35 lbs in 4 months. I had a baby 18 months ago and I am going to go back on it to lose the baby weight.”
