Prices for Sildenafil
Among brick-and-mortar prescription drug retailers, the cost per 50-milligram dose of sildenafil is lowest at CVS and Target — $7.39. (The pharmacy departments inside Target stores are owned and operated by CVS.)
Over the three months of summer, the average price of a 100-milligram tablet of Viagra at all pharmacies went from $79.28 in July to $76.99, a drop of about 2.9 percent. By contrast, the average price of a 100-milligram tablet of sildenafil went from $33.56 in July to $24.89, a decline of 25.8 percent.
Walmart’s Price Changes
Among all the pharmacies in our price survey, the most dramatic changes in prices for both Viagra and sildenafil occurred at Walmart. The big-box store’s price for Viagra went from $79.69 per 100-milligram pill in July to $75.19 in September, a decline of 5.6 percent. Far bigger was the drop in Walmart’s price for sildenafil, a 32.2 percent decrease from $38.05 in July to $25.79 in September.
