Viagra scientist chases new sexual health breakthrough

Mike Wylie, one of the men who played an instrumental part in the creation of the erection pill Viagra, has announced that he may have made a breakthrough in the world of sexual health. Wylie and his UK-based company, Plethora Solutions, are shopping around an aerosol spray that can help prevent premature ejaculation.

The spray, codenamed PSD502, has been being worked on for several years now, but Wylie says he now feels comfortable revealing it to the world. Just like Viagra revolutionized the world of erection health, Wylie believes that PSD502 could change the world of male erections health.

The spray contains low doses of two anesthetics, which make it harder for men to, er, blow their top early, while also ensuring that pleasure isn’t reduced. Wylie and Plethora claim that PSD502 takes effect in as little as five minutes and works for up to two hours. In trials, 87 per cent of men responded positively to the treatment.

The product won approval from the European regulators last year after trials showed it was safe and effective in treating a condition estimated to affect one in four men.

However, PSD502 isn’t the first treatment to arise for men who suffer from premature ejaculation. Priligy, a similar spray developed by Furiex Pharmaceuticals, has been on the market for several years. Wylie argues that PSD502 is faster acting, and also has fewer side effects.

While it may be several years into we see PSD502 hit the market, Wylie let it slip that several big name erection health companies such as Pfizer (makers of Viagra), Eli Lilly (makers of Cialis), and Bayer (makers of Levitra) have expressed interest in the spray. So for men that suffer from premature ejaculation, the future is looking bright.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the causes of erectile dysfunction?

Erectile dysfunction (ED) can result from various physical, psychological, and lifestyle factors. Common erectile dysfunction causes include:

  • Physical Causes: Conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, and hormonal imbalances.
  • Psychological Causes: Stress, anxiety, depression, or relationship issues.
  • Lifestyle Factors: Smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and lack of exercise.

Understanding these causes is crucial to determining the most effective erectile dysfunction treatment.

Can generic Viagra help erectile dysfunction cure?

Generic Viagra, containing the active ingredient sildenafil citrate, is not a permanent erectile dysfunction cure, but it is highly effective in managing the condition. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis, enabling men to achieve and maintain an erection during sexual stimulation. For lasting solutions, it’s important to address underlying health or psychological issues alongside medication use.

What are some alternatives to erectile dysfunction treatment besides medications?

Non-medication approaches to erectile dysfunction treatment include:

  • Lifestyle Changes: Improving diet, exercising regularly, reducing stress, and quitting smoking.
  • Therapy: Psychological counseling or couples therapy for ED linked to mental health or relationship problems.
  • Devices: Vacuum erection devices (VEDs) to stimulate blood flow.
  • Surgical Options: Penile implants or vascular surgery in severe cases.

Combining these methods with treatments like viagra pills can improve overall effectiveness.

How quickly do Viagra pills start working?

Viagra pills typically start working within 30 to 60 minutes after ingestion. For the best results, take the Viagra pill on an empty stomach, as a heavy meal may delay its effects. The medication requires sexual stimulation to work and provides an effective window of action for up to four to six hours.
