If blood is trapped too long, the lack of oxygen can damage or even destroy tissue in the penis, which can cause serious erection difficulties in the future and even disfigurement.
A sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes is also quite rare but requires immediate medical attention. A condition called nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, or NAION, might exist.
