“Being on the go takes you out of your normal routine, which makes food mistakes more likely,” she said. Carbonell says dieters need to re-wire their habits by thinking ahead. Here’s a few tips from Carbonell and her followers to avoid junk food pitfalls:
Dieting at the office
Rather than eat a piece of candy from the giant bowl on the reception desk, bring your own snack. Pack a granola bar or a yogurt, so you’re not temped to make a pit stop at the candy dish.
Dieting in the Kitchen
After dinner, clean up and turn the lights off. This will remind you the kitchen is closed for the night. No need to go for that midnight snack, Carbonell tells CNN.
Having healthy snacks in a clear container is another way to go. Use several clear canisters to store some nutritious snacks that won’t wreck your diet. If they’re visible, you’re more likely to grab them.
Dieting at Parties
If you’re headed to a party, you’re likely to sample the treat table. To avoid temptation, eat a healthy dinner before you go. You don’t want to arrive with an empty stomach. You don’t have to deprive yourself while hanging out with friends, but keep the treats to a minimum.
Dieting at Restaurants

These days’ menus are all posted online, so take a few minutes and check out the menu before you walk through the door. Find a dish that fits your calorie intake for the day and plan to order that. Of course, you can order as many fruits and veggies as you’d like.
