The average price for Levitra ended the second half of 2019 less than 10 percent lower than where it started in July. However, the average price for its generic equivalent, vardenafil, was much more volatile.
Average prices for Levitra and its generic equivalent, vardenafil, followed somewhat separate paths during the second half of 2019, based on data from Secure Medical’s monthly review of prescription drug prices.
Relatively stable, Levitra prices ended the six-month period in December just under 10 percent lower than they were in July. By contrast, vardenafil prices were marked by considerably greater volatility, ending the year 54.8 percent lower in December than they were in July. Generic Prices More Volatile
It can be argued that much of the price competition these days is between generic equivalents of the brand-name erectile dysfunction drugs that consumers have come to know and love. While some men continue to insist on Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra, the vast majority are opting for the lower-priced generic versions of these medications.
Levitra’s generic equivalent made its market debut in the fall of 2018 and thus has been on the market for just over a year. And, of course, vardenafil competes for market share with sildenafil citrate and tadalafil, the generic equivalents of Viagra and Cialis, respectively.

The average price for vardenafil started the second half at $48.88 per 20 mg tablet in July. It dropped a whopping 44.2 percent to $27.26 in August and then slipped nearly 20 percent more to $21.82 in September. It fell another 2.8 percent to $21.21 in October. In November, vardenafil’s average price rebounded 2.2 percent to $21.68 and another 1.9 percent to end the second half at $22.10 in December.
