Types of ED

There are several types of ED:

  • Underlying medical condition

The majority of men suffer from ED as a side effect of another condition. For instance, diabetics often struggle with ED. Men with heart disease, high blood pressure, weight problems, low testosterone, and multiple sclerosis can also suffer from ED.

  • Psychological Erectile Dysfunction

It’s estimated that 10-20 percent of all ED cases are caused by a psychological reason. The most common causes are stress, anxiety and depression. From stress at work to anxiety stemming from family pressure, the list of causes is as unique as the individual.

  • Priapism

This condition causes men to get a painful erection that lasts for hours without sexual stimulation. Blood gets trapped and can’t naturally drain out, which causes discomfort. The most common causes of this kind of ED is from misuse of medication.

  • Peyronie’s Disease

This condition is caused by scare tissues, or plaque, that causes blockages in the penis. Studies suggest that less than 1 percent of men suffer from this condition.
