A recent study shows that one third of all men taking Viagra for erection problems started feeling results in just 14 minutes. The study, conducted by Pfizer, the maker of Viagra, believes it is the fastest working loss of erection issues treatment on the market.
The fast-acting results
In the double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 228 men successfully treated with Viagra for erection difficulties for at least two months were randomly assigned to receive either Viagra or placebo for four weeks.
Study participants averaged 60 years of age, had erection issues for an average of seven years, and a majority had moderate to severe erection problems.
Results showed one third of all men felt results in 14 minutes. One half of all men felt results in 20 minutes.
“Onset-of-action speed is only one factor to consider when choosing a therapy for ED,” said Dr. Harin Padma-Nathan, clinical professor of urology at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine.
“But in that context, it’s important for patients and their physicians to note that no published studies show any oral therapy for loss of erections has a faster onset of action than Viagra.”
Wonder drug discovered by accident
While millions of men have turned to Viagra to improve their sex life, the treatment was actually discovered by accident in the mid 90s. Pfizer was testing a little blue pill they believed could help people with heart trouble. What they found was Viagra had a predominate side effect: erections.
