Viagra and Cialis continue to gain popularity among middle aged men to spice up their sex life.  The two drugs are the favored medications for men dealing with erectile dysfunction.  However, since the drugs hit the market a small pool of men have complained about blurred vision, or blue-tinged vision while taking the pills.

A new study shows Cialis and Viagra do not have any adverse side effects on vision.

Eli Lilly, the makers of Cialis, partially funded the study of 250 men.  The participants suffered from mild to moderate erectile dysfunction.  The group was split into three; one group taking Cialis, one taking Viagra, and one taking a placebo or sugar pill.  All the men in the study had eye exams by doctors.  Now vision problems were found.

Since Cialis and Viagra work by increasing blood flow there was concern that increased blood flow to the eye’s retina may cause problems, but the study found otherwise.

Researchers say it is likely that men who are taking erectile dysfunction drugs, who are typically older, may battle vision problems with age.  They do no believe the vision problems are connected to the popular medications.

The study was published in the Archives of Ophthalmology.

What’s erectile dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction, or ED, is the inability to get or keep an erection long enough to enjoy sex.  Erectile Dysfunction can happen to men of any age, but it typically is a problem for men 75 years old or older.

Is ED just part of getting older?
While older men do need a little more stimulation as they age, they should still be able to get an erection and enjoy sex.  If you think you’re suffering from erectile dysfunction, you should consult your doctor and come up with a treatment plan that is right for you.
