Viagra and Sildenafil Prices at CVS (Updated November 2020)

In November  2020, the price per day for Viagra at CVS and other major pharmacies remained steady with several major retailers holding their prices under those offered by CVS. CVS, however, continued to offer one of the lowest prices available for generic sildenafil. Our investigation into the lowest-cost options for Viagra and sildenafil takes into account both the per-day price and the hidden costs of time and energy involved in buying at traditional pharmacies vs. online from eDrugstore.

CVS and Target

CVS, which also owns the pharmacies at Target stores, is the biggest pharmacy chain in the United States and filled more than $43 billion in prescriptions in 2019. Closely followed by Walgreens, the second-largest pharmacy chain, CVS has almost 10% of the retail prescription market. As the biggest player, it should not be surprising that CVS can offer the largest and deepest discounts on drugs such as Viagra and sildenafil.

Viagra vs. Sildenafil

Viagra, as the original erectile dysfunction medication, is the most well-known ED drug, beginning the current boom in ED medications with its approval in 1996. Sildenafil, its generic equivalent, is basically the same drug as approved by the FDA, without the branding and advertising associated with the better-known Viagra.

CVS Prices Are Now Among the Highest  for Viagra

In October 2020, CVS competitors dropped their per-day cost for 100-milligram Viagra to an average of nearly $79.00 while the CVS price remained at $81.25 per day.  These prices held steady in November 2020 as well. As the chart below demonstrates, CVS prices have remained relatively constant over time with an increase at the beginning of this year.

CVS Price Remains Low for Sildenafil

While CVS charged one of the highest prices in the market for daily name-brand Viagra, the price of $15.78 for 100-milligram sildenafil at CVS remained one of the lowest options available, well under the average price of $21.19.

Walmart, Publix, and Costco Offer Lower Prices

CVS’s prices on Viagra and sildenafil were above those at Publix and Costco, which in October and November 2020 priced 100-milligram Viagra at $74.94 and $79.42, respectively. CVS priced 100-milligram sildenafil at $15.78. Other major retail pharmacy outlets in the field, such as Walmart, undercut the name brand price of 100-milligram Viagra but were higher for the generic, pricing 100-milligram sildenafil at $25.79.

Ordering Online May Be the Best Deal

While the giant retailers may be able to offer lower prices per day on ED drugs such as Viagra and sildenafil, the per-day price of medications does not take other important factors into account. If you decide to order online, you will likely save both time and money when you consider other factors.

Key Advantages to Ordering with eDrugstore

  • Convenience: eDrugstore offers the convenience of ordering from your home, from your office, or from anywhere that you can access the website. There is no driving, no fighting traffic, and no standing in line. You will never have to plan your day around when you will get to the retail pharmacy. There is no need to wade through a huge store to get to the pharmacy and no waiting in uncomfortable chairs or in a drive-through pick-up line to receive your medication. You order online, and the medicine is shipped directly to your home or office.
  • Privacy and Discretion: If you have a prescription already, you can fax it to eDrugstore or scan and email it directly to the site. This saves you the hassle of dealing face-to-face with a person. If you don’t yet have a prescription, eDrugstore can set up a complimentary online consultation with a licensed physician in the United States who can authorize the medication for you. You will not have to lose time or sit in an uncomfortable waiting room.
  • Cost Savings: If you take advantage of the complimentary consultation, you will avoid the costs associated with a doctor’s visit. The copays and deductibles are written into your health insurance (if you have it) along with the increasingly high costs for uninsured patients. In addition, you will save the cost of transportation to a doctor and pharmacy. Shipping is free with eDrugstore, and a complimentary pill-splitter is included with your first order.
