The area linked to erectile dysfunction in men with MS
The researchers used functional neuroimaging to look at the brains of healthy men to identify which areas contributed to erectile function. Then they determined associations between erectile dysfunction in men with multiple sclerosis-associated lesions.
The results of the study showed associations between erectile dysfunction and multiple sclerosis lesions primarily in the bilateral and predominantly left the juxtacortical insular region. As the study concluded, “MS lesions particularly in the left insular region, which is activated by sexual arousal, contribute to erectile dysfunction.”
Helping men with MS and erectile dysfunction
Like men without multiple sclerosis, some men with erectile dysfunction and MS may benefit from taking an erectile dysfunction drug, such as Cialis.
Produced by Eli Lilly, Cialis is one of the top erectile dysfunction drugs in the country and has been approved by the FDA to treat not only erectile dysfunction but also the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Cialis is available in a variety of dosages (2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg and 20 mg) and works for more than 80% of men.
Although Cialis does have some side effects, most men report that they are minor enough to continue taking Cialis. These side effects may include a headache, back pain, stuffy for a runny nose, flushing, indigestions and muscle aches.
Uncommon side effects include an erection that won’t go away and a sudden decrease or loss of hearing or vision.
Cialis is safe for most men, but you’ll need to talk to your healthcare provider about health problems or other medications you’re currently taking. Some medicines that can affect Cialis include nitrates, guanylate cyclase stimulators, alpha-blockers, blood pressure medications, some antibiotics, oral antifungal drugs and medicines for HIV.
