The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) isn’t with happy with the rumor that Lamu turtles can help cure erectile dysfunction (ED).
No proof that turtle meat helps erectile dysfunction
Where once fishermen were killing the turtles just for meat, now some people are claiming that turtle fat can treat asthma, the flu, and erectile dysfunction, as well as fend off extreme cold if you cover yourself in the oil, or even help you stay underwater longer if you apply the turtle oil to your face.
The rumors are keeping KWS and other conservationists busy as they struggle to save the turtles from extinction.
As for the belief that the turtle meat can cure erectile dysfunction, Lamu County Hospital Nutritionist Charles Mwashighadi says it’s just not true. “There are many nutritional ways to cure asthmas, erectile dysfunction and other illnesses,” he explains. “There is no scientific link between turtle meat and these conditions.”
A legitimate treatment for erectile dysfunction
For men who are looking for legitimate ways to treat their erectile dysfunction, ED drugs like Cialis can help.
Cialis is one of the top-selling erectile dysfunction drugs and the world, and unlike turtle meat, Cialis has independent scientific studies showing that it works for more than 80% of men with erectile dysfunction.
Although Cialis can have some side effects—such as flushing, back or muscle pain, headaches, stomach upset and a stuffy nose, among others–most men tolerate the minor inconveniences well enough to continue taking the erectile dysfunction drug.
Some men shouldn’t take Cialis or other erectile dysfunction drugs. These include men whose blood pressure isn’t under control or those who take an alpha-blocker. In addition, men who take nitrates, have kidney or liver disease or retinitis pigmentosa, should talk to their doctor about their conditions before taking Cialis. The same is true for men who have had a heart attack or stroke in the past six months.
