According a survey recently conducted by Arocha Hair Restoration, more and more men are coming clean about hair restoration. While men used to hide their thinning hair with a hat or with a strategic comb over, the study found that men these days are more likely to open up to friends and family members about hair restoration.
For the study, members of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) were surveyed about their patients. More than half of the respondents said patients were more likely to discuss their hair restoration options with their family and friends, compared to the considerably lower number in 2010.
Researchers credit this change in attitude to the advancements in hair restoration. With medication such as Propecia and Finasteride helping men to combat hair loss, and hair restoration surgery becoming more commonplace, men see no reason to hide about hair loss.
Hair restoration has also become more prevalent in the mainstream, with celebrities such as A.J. McLean of the Backstreet Boys and Wes Walker of the Denver Broncos openly discussing their difficulties with hair loss.
With this latest study, it’s become clear that men are realizing they don’t need to be embarrassed about their thinning hair; instead, they’re realizing that help is available, and they have nothing to hide!
