The word stop spelled out with cigarettes
Smoking adversely affects blood flow throughout your body and can lead to erectile dysfunction.

It will come as no surprise to regular readers of this blog that smoking is incompatible with healthy erectile function.

That knowledge, however, doesn’t make kicking the habit any easier.

Here are some tips that might make quitting a bit less daunting a proposition and speed you on the way to becoming a non-smoker.

  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Support groups can be found both online and in most towns and cities.
  • Eat a healthy and nutritious diet to help your body cope with the nicotine withdrawal.
  • Drink plenty of water and get a good night’s sleep, both of which can also help see you through the withdrawal process.
  • If you can’t do it cold turkey, use smoking-cessation products, such as nicotine gum, lozenges, or transdermal patches to gradually wean you off the habit. Just be sure to taper off your use of these crutches as you become more confident in your ability to go it alone.
  • Take a positive approach to what you’re doing. Don’t look at it as deprivation but rather as a stepping-stone to a healthier life.
  • Tell friends what you’re doing so that they can help catch you if you fall.
  • If you use smartphone apps to help get you through the day, visit Apple’s App Store (for iPhone) or Google Play (for Android phones). Both have a wide array of smoking-cessation apps that can help you on your way.
