Study Confirms Odds of Getting ED Increase With Age
There’s more evidence that getting old wreaks havoc on your sex life. A study shows 52% of men between the age of 40-70 deal with some form of erectile dysfunction.

Some can’t get aroused at all. Five percent of men age 40 say they can’t have sex at all and that number triples to 15% by the time a man reaches 70.

The study doesn’t yield surprising results. We all knew that age and erectile dysfunction were connected, but it is one more piece of evidence that the male body simply can’t perform forever.

Dealing with ED

So, what’s a guy to do? For starters, you should take care of yourself. If you’re in your 20s or 30s, it’s the perfect time to start healthy routines that can prolong your sexual abilities. Make exercising part of your daily life, eat right and keep the partying to a minimum.

If you’re older, it’s never too late to make healthy lifestyle changes. Even small things like controlling your portion size or cutting out a few sweets can make a difference.

If you’ve started to notice symptoms of erectile dysfunction, it’s time to talk with your doctor.

Symptoms to watch for

If you’re experiencing any of these issues for a prolonged period of time (like a few months), make an appointment to see a physician. Early treatment is always best.

  • Inability to get an erection
  • Inability to keep an erection
  • Not interested in sex
  • Loss of erection

Treatment options are available

While the study’s findings aren’t great news for aging men, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy an active sex life when you’re 70. There are treatments for erectile dysfunction.

The most common treatment on the market is oral pills like Viagra. You simply take the pill about 30 minutes before you plan to have sex and it will help you get and keep an erection.

Don’t sit in silence. Talk with your doctor about a prescription if you’re experiencing any signs of impotence.
