Can Exercise Cause ED?

Working out is a healthy habit. No question about. Most people know that working out has great effects on the body. From losing weight to toning your muscles, hitting the gym does change your body.

But, can it have harmful effects on your manhood? Between biking, running and sweating, does all that activity cause problems below the belt – like erectile dysfunction?

It’s a question that many men wonder about, and today we’ll give you the answer.

Does exercise lead to ED?

No. Working out is great for your body and doesn’t cause erectile dysfunction. In fact, going to the gym can improve your sex life.

Exercise improves cardiovascular health, which also improves blood flow to your nether region. You need good blood flow to get a solid erection.

Research supports this claim. Men who exercised vigorously for 20 to 30 minutes were less likely to have erection problems as inactive men, according to the American Council on Exercise.

A separate study, conducted by the University of California, reveals men with a sedentary lifestyle reported better, more frequent sex when they worked out one hour a day, three to four times each week.

What else can you do to improve your sex life?

Besides working out, there are several changes that you can make to work towards a healthy, ED-free life.

Start eating healthy. Taking care of your body means you’ll have more strength and stamina for sex.

Stay away from vices like drinking and smoking. These habits take a toll on your body, and can have adverse side effects in the intimacy department.

Work toward a stress-free life. While eliminating 100% of your stress might be impossible, you should certainly find ways to keep it in check. Have a strategy in place to work through stressful times. Whether you go to the gym, talk with a specialist or hang out with friends, keeping stress at bay keeps your sex life on track.
