Drug Dealers Picking Counterfeit Viagra Over Coke

Cocaine and drug dealers seem to have had a falling out recently.  Many dealers are apparently opting to sell counterfeit Viagra, rather than the traditional illegal narcotics.   The appeal is obvious – less harsh punishment if they are caught, and a significant pay increase if they don’t get caught.  In fact, a dealer can make nearly 2,000 times more money selling counterfeit Viagra than he or she can make selling cocaine.

State and federal agencies are aware of the booming counterfeit medication industry, and are working together to seize product shipments and prosecute dealers.  Still, counterfeit medication is projected to be a $75 billion industry by 2010.
