Iyad Dogmosh, 27, was recently sentenced to four years in federal prision for trafficking in fake Viagra, imported from Egypt to Maryland. The Jordinian national plead guilty last August to two counts of trafficking in counterfeit goods. He admits to selling 2,000 pills in 2006 to an individual (who turned out to be a private investigator), and he also led police to a suitcase where he kept 36,000 fake Viagra pills. These pills were tested by the Food and Drug Administration, and were found to lack sildenafil citrate, Viagra’s key ingredient.
Dogmosh will more than likely be deported after he completes his sentence.
According to Pfizer, Viagra’s producer, 6.4 million counterfeit Viagra pills were seized worldwide last year alone.
