Eric Michaels: Tell us briefly about your book, and by the way I love the title…”and then I’ll be happy.
Kristen Houghton: People are always putting happiness somewhere in the future – you know when this happens, then I’ll be happy. When that occurs in my life, then I’ll be happy. So I am hearing this from a lot of different people especially when I was doing interviews for a magazine and I thought, you know what that would make a great title for a book because that is exactly the way I feel. What happened was, I was pretty successful doing well, doing what I wanted to do but I was never completely happy and I never understood why and finally I discovered I wasn’t allowing myself to be happy. I was placing my happiness in the future. When I am doing this then I’ll be happy, when I lose those fifteen pounds thta I’m trying to lose then I’ll be happy. I wrote an article entitled “The Ever Elusive State of Happiness” for Family Magazine and I was totally blown away by the amount of mail and response that I got from women saying you are basically writing my life. I then decided to interview 100 of these women and from those 100 women came fourteen stories that make up the book.
