Man With Erectile Dysfunction Gets Court to Overturn Denial of Compensation
When Richard Carr was bucked off a horse in January 2012, he sustained several pelvic injuries that led to urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction.

At the time, he was employed by Gordon Ganz, who was doing business as G & H Farms.

Ganz was paying Carr’s medical bills until Carr reached “maximum medical improvement for his injuries.”

First treat the heart, then the erectile dysfunction

But when Carr’s doctors felt that a penile prosthesis was required to fix his erectile dysfunction and that the prosthesis to fix his erectile dysfunction couldn’t be done until they first performed a heart catheterization, Ganz refused to authorize payment for the heart catheterization saying it wasn’t being done specifically to treat the injuries from the accident. The court agreed with Ganz.

But in June 2018, Carr won the appeal and now the court will look at things again.

Why a prosthetic penis instead of Viagra?

Carr’s accident must have caused such severe damage to his penis that even the ED drug Viagra wouldn’t have helped. Viagra works on more than 80% of men with erectile dysfunction.

In the United States, men can get a prescription for Viagra from their medical provider.

Viagra is not only the top-selling erectile dysfunction drug in the world but also the most counterfeited. It’s one of the reasons Viagra requires a prescription; to keep it pure, effective and safe.

Some men may be hesitant to talk to their doctor because it’s embarrassing to admit you have erectile dysfunction, but your appointment will also give you the chance to discuss:

  • current health conditions—such as diabetes, heart problems or smoking—that could be contributing to your ED
  • current medications, some of which may interact with Viagra
  • what to expect from Viagra and how to take it
  • potential side effects (although most men say they are so minor that they continue taking Viagra).
