Pharmaceutical industry experts say that most men who use Viagra are middle aged.

The typical Viagra user in the United States is a man between the ages of 40 and 60, according to patient data compiled by CVS, the largest pharmacy chain in America with roughly 9,700 retail outlets.

Although the Viagra buyer base is slightly more than 99 percent male, just under 1 percent of all Viagra purchases are made by women, possibly to ensure that their male partners have no excuses for lackluster performance in the bedroom.

Pfizer, the pharmaceutical giant that developed the iconic little blue pill, narrows the age range of the typical Viagra user down to men in their early to mid-50s, according to an article posted at WebMD.com.

However, there has been a noticeable uptick in Viagra sales to younger men in recent years, although its cause is unclear.

Is it a real increase in ED among younger men or simply a reflection of an uptrend in recreational use of the drug among the young?

In its breakdown of Viagra users by age, CVS says that 50.4 percent of all Viagra users fall between the ages of 40 and 60, followed by 43.5 percent who are over the age of 60. Only 6 percent of Viagra users are under the age of 40, according to CVS data.

How to Save Money

Breaking down Viagra users by the pill-strength they purchase, CVS says that more than two-thirds of all Viagra users buy the 100-milligram pill. Less than 25 percent normally buy 50-milligram tablets, the recommended starting dose for the pill, while 10 percent or fewer buy 25-milligram tablets.

It should be noted that many of those buying 100-milligram tablets, which cost about the same per tablet as the 50-milligram pills, are splitting each pill to produce two 50-milligram doses, thus saving money in the bargain.

Regardless of your age bracket, buying Viagra — or its generic equivalent — through eDrugstore.com offers added convenience, particularly for those who don’t yet have a prescription. Included in eDrugstore’s price for the drug is a complimentary online consultation with a member of the online facilitator’s team of licensed U.S. physicians.

If you are found to be an appropriate candidate for the drug, a prescription will be authorized.
