Experts have found that regular sexual intercourse can help to combat erection problems. While this may seem like an obvious solution, experts tout a healthy sex life as the best way to keep erection problems at bay.
These findings come from a 2008 study which involved the observation of 1000 older Finnish men. The study found that those who claimed that they had sex at least once a week were less likely to develop erection problems than those who had sex less than once a week.
“Regular intercourse has an important role in preserving erection health among elderly men,” said lead author Dr. Juha Koskimaki. He further added, “Continued sexual activity decreases the incidence of erection problems in direct proportion to coital frequency.”
Simply put: Sex is good for your erection. Sex is a rigorous form of exercise. When you have sex, you work out a variety of muscles in your body, including your pelvic muscles. By working your pelvic muscles, you ensure that blood can easily flow to your penis, which keeps your erection healthy and strong.
Additionally, regular sex has been shown to improve mental health, too. This ensures that you won’t have to worry about any mental hang-ups causing your erection to falter.
But researchers stress that regular sex is really only effective at preventing erection problems, not combating an already existing condition. If you struggle with erection problems, it would be wise to eat healthier and exercise more.
But if you’re looking to prevent erection problems, sex, and plenty of it, may be your best bet.
