Highlights

  • The manufacturer of Erectin male enhancement pills makes fairly bold claims but provides little evidence to back them up.
  • There’s little detailed research that supports any of the claims made on Erectin’s website.
  • None of Erectin’s ingredients have definitively shown to help with erectile dysfunction, although one or two may have some promise.
  • The best male enhancement pills are still scientifically tested prescription medications with a clear mechanism of action and well-understood risks.

In our survey of herbal supplements and gas station sex pills, there’s a fairly consistent pattern of bold but vague claims backed up by little evidence for their effectiveness. Do Erectin male enhancement pills break the pattern? Learn what’s in Erectin, what the evidence has to say, whether Erectin is safe, and how to get real male enhancement.

What Are Erectin Male Enhancement Pills?

Erectin is an herbal supplement that, according to the site copy, will give you “bigger, stronger erections,” “increase orgasm intensity,” and help you “last longer and increase control.” It also claims to be “unlike anything you’ve tried before,” but if you’ve ever taken herbal supplements, that’s probably not the case.

What Are the Ingredients of Erectin Male Enhancement Pills?

If you’ve been reading our gas station sex pills series, there’s little that will surprise you in Erectin’s ingredients list.

  • Black pepper. Black pepper or black pepper extract is popular in herbal supplements because it contains piperine, which has been found to help with the uptake of nutrients and medications. The theory is that it will help you get more benefit from the rest of the herbs, although whether this is true hasn’t yet been tested.
  • Hawthorn berry. There’s been no research into hawthorn berry’s possible impact on ED. That said, it may have some cardiovascular benefits, which may indirectly help with some types of ED. However, any potential benefits come with risks, and you should talk to your doctor if you’re considering a hawthorn supplement.
  • Cuscuta chinensis. While the evidence seems promising, the only erectile dysfunction study we could find was conducted on rabbits, not humans. While animal models can indicate possible benefits for humans, human testing with large samples needs to be done before science can make a call.
  • Damiana. A traditional aphrodisiac, damiana hasn’t been well-studied and seems so far to only have been looked at in rat models.
  • Epimedium. Better known as “horny goat weed,” there is possibly some truth to the claim that this substance can help with ED. Epimedium has been found to contain icariin, which can have an effect similar to Viagra, but how strong that effect is, and whether it has a meaningful impact, hasn’t yet been proven.
  • Ginseng. A mainstay in Chinese herbal medicine, a systematic review of studies on ginseng and ED published in 2021 found little evidence that it helps with erectile dysfunction.
  • Muira puama. A flowering plant from the Amazon, despite the claims it helps with ED, a comprehensive 2020 analysis of the herbs in ED supplements didn’t find any meaningful evidence of it having an effect on ED.
  • Saw palmetto. Widely touted as a natural treatment for an enlarged prostate, not only has that claim struggled to be verified in the lab, saw palmetto might actually be a cause of ED in some circumstances.
  • Tribulus terrestis. Also called caltrop, this herb has a reputation for boosting testosterone. Yet little research has been done into these effects, and what research is available finds little benefit.

What is Enteric Coating?

In addition to its ingredients, Erectin touts that it has an enteric coating with gelcaps, claiming that other supplements may not work because they’re broken down by stomach acid before being able to be absorbed by the body. The coating breaks down in the small intestine, which then releases gel caps. These are, supposedly, better for introducing the active ingredients into your bloodstream.

While this is a real pharmaceutical coating and you’ve likely taken a medication with one, we were unable to find any studies or analysis that found any benefit to herbs being metabolized in the small intestine instead of the stomach. If the gelcaps contained only the active ingredients from these herbs, then it might increase absorption. But as far as we can tell, they only contain the herb mixture, so any benefit from the coating is unclear.

Do the Ingredients in Erectin Work?

Erectin doesn’t help its scientific credibility with some statements on their website that don’t hold up to scrutiny. First, the site claims that a clinical study was conducted with outstanding results. The problem is that it doesn’t link to the study. If you scroll to the bottom of the website, you’ll find a link to the study, or so it says. However, it only takes you up to the same banner on the website.

Secondly, the brand touts the endorsement of Dr. Dave E. David, who’s a regular guest on a wide range of TV shows discussing medical issues. While Dr. David is a legitimate licensed physician, he’s an orthopedic surgeon, not a urologist, endocrinologist, or similar expert in erectile dysfunction. His endorsement is much like an athlete’s endorsement, not a medical one.

Not helping matters is that if you dig a little, you’ll find that Erectin is made by the company Leading Edge Health. They’re also behind another herbal supplement making similar claims, VigRX Plus. But you won’t find any reference to that on the Erectin site, or that the formulations of the two are strikingly similar.

Are Erectin Male Enhancement Pills Safe?

As far as we’ve been able to determine, there’s never been an injury or death related to Erectin. However, there are two key points you should keep in mind before taking any herbal supplement.

First, there is going to be some potential risk depending on your health, any medications you’re taking, and other factors. If you’re thinking about taking any herbal supplement, research it thoroughly and then talk about it with your doctor to anticipate possible contraindications or other problems. You may also be allergic to one or more components in the pill, so discuss those risks as well.

Secondly, there’s the issue of quality control. The regulations and requirements around herbal supplements are much looser than prescription medication; in fact, the FDA doesn’t even need to be informed when a new product hits the market, as long as it falls within certain legal boundaries.

While supplements made in America may have their facilities inspected, the FDA’s reach stops at America’s borders. Nothing on the Erectin site gets into detail on their supply chain, factory locations, or other information. Unfortunately, there’s a risk of herbs or supplements being tainted with pharmaceuticals at many points in the manufacturing process, sometimes without the knowledge of the manufacturer.

Get Real Male Enhancement: Prescription ED Medication

If you’re looking to treat erectile dysfunction, your best choice is still prescription medication. Viagra (sildenafil), Cialis (tadalafil), Levitra (vardenafil), and other FDA-approved ED medications have all been through rigorous study procedures by the FDA and are still being monitored decades after they’ve hit the market.

Why You Should Buy FDA-Approved ED Medications from eDrugstore

It’s easy to get prescription ED medication safely and discreetly. We offer free telehealth consultations from U.S.-licensed doctors. You can get a prescription and begin working to treat your ED without leaving your house; we’ll ship straight to your door at no extra charge.
