The Elator is an external support device that may be an option for men who cannot take erectile dysfunction (ED) medications safely.
Men suffering from erection problems heaved a collective sigh of relief when Viagra, a revolutionary new way to treat such problems, arrived on the market in the late 1990s. How the Device Works
The Elator, approved by the Food and Drug Administration, consists of two stainless steel rings, both covered in medical grade silicone, connected by two flexible micro steel rods, coated with polyethylene terephthalate.
The top ring is attached beneath the head of the penis and is connected by the twin rods to the bottom ring or loop that is firmly attached to the base of the penis. The device is capable of elongating a penis that is completely flaccid or only partially erect into a fully erect position that allows intercourse.
The device provides a possible alternative for men who can’t use Viagra or one of the other PDE5 inhibitors, either because those drugs don’t work for them or because they’ve been told by their doctors to avoid the medications for other reasons. While it may seem a bit cumbersome at first glance, its manufacturer claims it can be attached in less than 30 seconds. For those whose choices are limited, it could provide a way to maintain some semblance of a sex life.
