Breast Cancer Deaths Surpassed by Prostate Cancer Deaths in the UK
Although lung cancer and colorectal cancer still rank as the deadliest cancers in the United Kingdom, a significant amount of progress has been made in the field of breast cancer, dropping it to No. 4 behind prostate cancer.

Luckily, it doesn’t mean that the lifespan for men with prostate cancer is getting any worse. Part of the change is due to the fact that breast cancer research has experienced a massive surge in fundraising, while prostate cancer lags far behind in terms of money raised for research.

“However, the good news is that many of these [breast cancer] developments could be applied to prostate cancer,” explains Prostate Cancer UK CEO Angela Culhane. “And we’re confident that with the right funding, we can dramatically reduce deaths within the next decade.”

Prostate cancer and erectile dysfunction

Although prostate cancer itself doesn’t usually cause erectile dysfunction, most of the treatments do—at least on a temporary basis.

According to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, even with nerve-sparing surgery or “precise planning” for radiation, almost all men will experience some form of erectile dysfunction the first few months after treatment. But it’s no reason to panic!

The erectile dysfunction in these cases is simply due to temporary effects on the nerves and blood vessels in the areas that control erections. In fact, the Prostate Cancer Foundation says that within a year, almost all the men with intact nerves will see “a substantial improvement.”

Cialis for erectile dysfunction

Statistics from the Prostate Cancer Foundation are promising: “About 75% of men who undergo a nerve-spare prostatectomy or more precise forms of radiation therapy have reported successfully achieving erections” after using drugs like Cialis.

Men who take medication for heart problems, such as nitrates, may not be able to take Cialis as the combination can cause unsafe drops in blood pressure. You’ll also need to talk to your doctor about whether or not you can safely take Cialis if you take alpha-blockers.
