Chicken noodle soup can only do so much.  While every mom insists it can help cure the flu, a group of scientists have a better solution.

For years doctor have believed a combination of flu treatments is the best way to treat it.  Flu strains have a way of mutating and rendering drugs useless.  Two antiviral drugs have already become obsolete because flu strains have evolved so much.

So, researchers wanted to know if a combination of drugs could prevent that from happening.

A study conducted by the University of Paris compared several different drugs to battle flu symptoms.  About 540 patients took part in this study.  Some were given Tamiflu, others took Relenza, an inhaled drug that works in a manner similar to Tamiful.  A  third group took a combination of the two drugs.  The results showed combining drugs was less effective.

Tamiflu showed the most effective results, although Relenza did work for patients as well.

What you should know about Tamiflu
Tamiflu can be prescribed to adults and children over the age of one to deal with the flu.  The drug can help prevent the flu and can also treat patients suffering with symptoms within a day or two of feeling rundown.

Tamiflu is not a replacement to the annual flu shot.

Tamiflu history
The flu treatment gained national attention in 2009 when swine flu broke out.  The World Health Organization advised the drug be used to help fight the harsh strain of flu.  Later on, it was suggested that Tamiflu be saved for the elderly and pregnant women, two groups that had the biggest potential for complications if they came down with swine flu.
