Yugi Gagarin was the first man in space, and Sally Ride was the first woman in space. In another windfall space event, Dennis Tito much more recently became the first tourist in space.
And now we’re about to have another first. Several private corporations have started taking reservations for tourist space flights over the last few years, with one of them being Space Expedition Corporation.
Several high-profile celebrities, some of the world’s richest entrepreneurs, and – it turns out – a retired porn star named Coco Brown have already booked their flights. When her flight takes off in March 2014, she’ll be the first porn star to have entered space.
Coco’s Flight
When Coco Brown goes into space, she’ll represent an entire new generation of space travel, where it’s no longer the elite and specially-selected government operatives who get to break this new-found boundary for humanity.
She’s been training in Cape Canaveral for several months now, and has completed a zero-gravity flight, which was conducted by taking a plane to high altitudes and allowing a controlled rapid descent.
Coco Brown laid down over $100,000 for the flight, but since she’s begun training, she’s wondered whether she’s in for more than she expected. She’s one of the first space explorers without a specific job to do, and even though she won’t be performing specific duties, she does have to learn contingency plans and emergency procedures.
Coming Out of Retirement?
Coco Brown hasn’t performed in over 10 years, so she definitely wasn’t expecting the media buzz that she got when she first signed up with Space Expedition Corporation.
But immediately, people started asking her questions. Would she be performing the first porno filmed in space? Would she be trying to have sex in space?
Coco says she hasn’t thought about these issues, instead focusing on being a good astronaut and enjoying the cool experience. Some reports do suggest that she’s up for it, though, depending on what kind of spacesuit she’s given.
Who knows, perhaps space travel will become so affordable in the near future that most of us can afford to take a similar trip – just like grabbing a plane ticket today!
