It’s the time of year that most everyone will come down with the sniffles and a nasty cough. If you’re lucky, the cold will go away on its own in approximately a week. If you aren’t lucky you will end up with a sinus infection that can last for more than a month.
Sinus infections can be quite serious and cause a plethora of other symptoms and issues. It’s best to go to the doctor and get on an antibiotic so your infection doesn’t become a bigger problem than it already is. You can do plenty to help prevent and help soothe a sinus infection on your own.
Neti Pot
Recently two people died in Louisiana from using tap water in their neti pot. Due to the warm waters in the South and Gulf regions of the United States, some deadly bacteria can slip through undetected. This does not mean it isn’t perfectly safe to use a neti pot though. Neti Pots are doctor recommended because they are medication free and safe to use on your own. Make sure the water you use for your neti pot is boiled beforehand or sterilized in bottle.
Vitamins
Take your vitamins because if you don’t take care of your body you will get sick. Taking a handful of vitamins isn’t going to cut it. You need to o your homework on which vitamins to take together and with what type of food to take them with. I like to take B complex, lysine, vitamin D, zinc and garlic together after eating a healthy protein and calcium packed meal. Garlic is a wonder food and has antioxidant qualities. Do your homework on how to stay healthy naturally and it will benefit you in the long run.
Humidity
During the winter months the humidity in your home is pretty much nonexistent since the heat is running. This will dry your sinuses out causing pain and bleeding. This will causing weird pressure to build up n your sinus ducts which will give you a massive headache. Try using a humidifier in your bedroom at night and in the main rooms you are in. During the summer the molds and moisture are high promoting a sinus infection for a different reason. Try taking your vitamins and sleeping in lower humidity conditions.
