The next time you reach for a pack of smokes, stop and think: Is the temporary joy you get from lighting up worth possibly losing your erection? Yes, smoking has been found to cause an assortment of problems within the body, but experts have also found that a chronic smoking habit can lead to a wilting erection.
It’ a fact: Nicotine, and the plethora of chemicals and additives found in cigarettes, are terrible for your body. It’s fries your lungs, damages your insides and strangles your arteries. This artery strangulation is what leads to smokers experiencing problems in the boudoir.
Smoking causes plaque to build up on the walls of your arteries. This plaque greatly slows the flow of blood, making your body struggle to quickly and efficiently get blood to vital parts of the body. When your body can’t quickly get blood to your penis, you can’t get it up. And when you can’t get it up, you aren’t happy, your partner isn’t happy, and your body isn’t happy.
Erection problems amongst smokers isn’t rare, either. In fact, studies have found it’s incredibly common. A recent study found that men who smoke more than 20 cigarettes daily had a 60% higher risk of erection problems, compared to men who never smoked. If you decide to kick the habit after a lifetime of lighting up, your body still isn’t safe. Research found that 15% of the past and present smokers had experienced erection problems.
Moral of the story: To save your erection, cut cigarettes out of your life. Better yet, never start smoking in the first place. Your body will thank you, and so will your erection.
