When erectile problems strike, men turn to trusted names like Viagra and Cialis. But when the pill has been popped and the moment of truth rolls around, some men can be left feeling disappointed. Many expect immediate, apparent results, and are surprised when nothing happens. This leads to many men swearing off the drugs, and seeking other alternatives to treating their erectile issues.

But PDE5- short for phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor- drugs such as Viagra and Levitra have been proven to work. It turns out these disappointed men were just taking the medication wrong.

A new study from Spain surveyed 172 men suffering from erectile problems who reported no change after taking Viagra. After these men were reeducated on how to properly take the medication, a whopping 88 men reported positive changes. The study, conducted at the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre in Madrid, was started because many doctors were noticing upset patients who weren’t using erectile drugs properly.

The researchers found that the 172 men surveyed were not taking the medication under the best conditions. Many didn’t give the drug enough time to get to work, or weren’t taking a high enough dose. When the men were properly educated on how to get the best results from the medication, they reported significantly improved results.

The researchers stressed that many don’t know how to properly take the medication, and men experiencing difficulty with erectile health drugs should consult their doctor before trying other methods.
