Many are turning to butterbur to conquer their seasonal allergies. Butterbur is a European herb that is utilized in many successful allergy medications. Cut out the middle man and go right to the source. According to a study conducted by the British Medical Journal, a tablet of butterbur extract taken four times a day was just as effective as popular antihistamine medications at controlling seasonal allergies. But unlike the medications, taking butterbur won’t make you drowsy.
Alternatively, instead of investing in pricey saline sprays, make your own. Saline is mostly salt and water, and a homemade version of this combination works just as well as any store bought version. The salt and water mixture is said to be a good way to clear the sinuses of pollen.
While many would prefer Mother Nature’s remedies over man-made medicine, it’s still wise to do your research on what you’re taking. Natural remedies can cause allergic reactions, making your already terrible situation even worse. Even if you dread to do it, consult a doctor before taking a natural remedy.
