San Diego offers an incredible blend of California beaches, animal exhibits, cultural and historical exhibits, and relaxing evening activities.

The entire city is full of fun in the sun, yet it retains a sophistication that few cities can, with it’s great museums and refined dining atmosphere.

Talking Tour of San Diego
First up is the GoCar, one of the coolest ways to tour a city that we’ve ever seen.

GoCar rents vehicles that give GPS-guided, talking tours of San Diego — learn all about the city with no one but your date by your side.. — Click to Tweet.

The upside of this kind of tour is that your date and you can choose exactly where you want to go, how much time to spend at any given location, and where you’d like to head next. You can also mischievously create your own routes.

In addition, the privacy and comfort of the whole experience will let you two playfully get to know each other while having a different kind of conversation than you would on a stuffy guided tour of the city.

Museum Crawl of the City
Another great idea is the list of 100 Works of Art to See Before You Die, which was put together with great care by curators from San Diego Magazine.

Browse the map interactively as you and your date explore each other’s interests and tastes, seeing new parts of the city as you see new parts of each other’s personalities.

Some of these artworks are huge sculptures in public places, while others are quiet masterpieces tucked away in old churches. Not only will this map lead you straight to some of the most interesting places in the city, but you’ll learn a lot about your date by what pieces they’re drawn to.

San Diego — Best Place for Day Trips?
These two date ideas could be done on consecutive days for a complete 2-day exploration of San Diego. What’s great is that they both would make awesome plans for starting early in the morning, and exploring throughout the day. But there’s also room for balance — you can combine the cultured type of fun with a more relaxed type as well.

Once evening comes, you can put down your art maps and camera and pick up a drink, as you go out and experience San Diego’s thriving nightlife!
