1. What are the founding principles of Travertine Spa and how would they translate into the lives of normal people?

We are founded upon the belief that people should treat themselves well.

I think this translates into our daily lives in that small changes can make a difference.

I find that we get so busy that we forget to take care of simple things.  When I was in corporate America, I would avoid leaving my desk for water or a bathroom break because I was under such hectic deadlines.

2. How important is it to have the connectivity between mind and body?

When I feel mentally or physically healthy I have so much energy. If one is lacking it makes the other difficult.  Try focusing on a project with a headache. Mind and body connectivity is of the upmost importance because our bodies respond to things such as stressful situations. It’s up to us to take care of ourselves so that we can attempt to have a stress free life.

3. In our fast-paced, stressed-out lives, what are some of the ways we can become balanced?

I have a ridiculous schedule.  Sometimes I would not eat lunch until 4pm.  My dad told me how bad this was for me. Now I take a break and sit down to have my meals. No more driving while having a conference call and eating.  I also try not to eat for the sake of eating but to eat nutritious foods that fuel my body.  Although every now and then, everyone needs a chocolate chip cookie.

4. What are some products people can easily add to their daily regime to mimic a spa experience?

The simplest is aromatherapy.  Go to your local organic merchant and purchase an ounce of essential oil. Put some in your bath and relax.

At the Travertine Spa Collection, we make a full line of body moisturizers, pure essential oils, and massage oils

5. Are there certain scents (oils, extracts, etc) that elicit certain responses? What are some scents you recommend to your clients?

Yes. Lavender is relaxing.  Rosemary and lime can energize and detoxify.  I recommend starting out with one of our botanical body washes that come in Tuberose, Petal, Citrus, Lavender and Tea Tree. We receive great responses from celebrities and repeat customers.  The Petal body cream has a light and delicate floral scent and the Citrus body wash made with tangerine and grapefruit essential oils is subtle and calming.

6. What are your top tips for overall well-being?

Always love yourself and spend time with the ones you love.  Make it a priority to do a few nice things for yourself and others every day
