Podcast Synopsis:

Dr. Nancy Irwin – a Los Angeles-based pre-licensed psychologist & therapeutic hypnotist who treats smoking cessation joined the show. As an ex-smoker herself, she is committed to transforming smoking addicts into health/fitness addicts!

Originally from Atlanta, where she trained as an opera singer, Dr. Nancy Irwin moved to New York City in 1985 to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian.  She worked all over the country and abroad, and moved to L.A. in 1994 when she heard that Hollywood needed more blondes…

Dr. Nancy experienced an epiphany when she began volunteer work for Children of the Night, a shelter for sexually abused children in Los Angeles, CA.  It waked up the healer in her, and prompted her to pursue a doctorate in psychology and to specialize in the prevention and healing of child sexual abuse. She treats sexual offenders as well as victims, for it is her belief that the best way to help victims is to help perpetrators.

A pre-licensed psychologist, Dr. Nancy is in private practice in West Los Angeles, and is also a busy public speaker on midlife transition and self-reinvention, as well as for Children of the Night, the Rape and Incest National Network, and Planned Parenthood. She’s been quoted extensively on MSNBC.com, The Rachel Maddow Show, the New York Times, Newsweek, Cosmopolitan, Redbook, Women’s World, and others, and has appeared on numerous radio and TV shows, including CNBC, Bravo, Fox, The Greg Behrendt Show, and numerous talk and reality shows.  Dr. Irwin is a Diplomate member of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, a member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, the Southern California Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and sits on the Education Committee of the California Coalition on Sexual Offending.
