Most studies look at the prevalence of erectile dysfunction in all men. After all, it is a problem that all men can face, but a recent study looked at how the condition effects men in all major racial and ethnic groups.

What is erectile dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction, sometimes called ED, is the consistent inability to get or keep an erection long enough to have sex.
For some men, the condition inhibits them from getting an erection at all, no matter how much stimulation is provided.
For others, keeping an erection is the problem. After a short amount of time, the erection is too soft to have satisfying sex.
There are varying levels of ED as well. For some it’s more severe than others.
However, there are medications that can treat the condition. Viagra, Cialis, Staxyn, Stendra and Levitra are all prescribed, oral medications that can help men get their mojo back.
What did the study find?
For starters, the study looks at the prevelance of ED across the board. Here’s what researchers found:

It’s interesting to note that other studies have found the prevalence of ED to be much higher. The Massachusetts Male Aging Study, for example, says at age 40, 40% of men have ED. At age 70, 70% of men have ED.
Here are additional findings:
- White, Hispanic and Asian men have increased odds of getting moderate ED.
- Black men are less likely to report having moderate to severe ED.
- Black and Asian men are less likely to have severe ED.
Where the researchers got their information:
Researchers used questionnaires that were filled out as part of the California Men’s Health Study, a large multiethnic study that asked for detailed demographic, medical and, socioeconomic data.
