New study has men stop taking nitrates
A new study conducted by Graham Jackson, out of London, wanted to know if men with a stable heart condition could stop taking nitrates long enough to take an ED medication and enjoy sex.
Of the 55 men in the study who stopped taking nitrates to take an ED medication, only three had increased heart symptoms after a week without nitrates.
The study is called “groundbreaking” on WebMD, which explains the study and its results. Nintey percent of the men that stopped taking nitrates tried in ED medication, and 85 percent of them had restored sexual function.
Experts say the study shows promise
The study is one of the first to suggest that it’s safe for men with heart disease to take ED medication after hitting the pause button on nitrates. Nitrates don’t prevent heart disease, they’re only used to treat the symptoms, and the men involved in the study were stable and evaluated by doctors while going off nitrates.
If you take nitrates, and would like to try an ED medication, you should talk with your doctor before stopping any medication. While more studies are needed, this study does show promise for men with heart disease that still crave a healthy sex life.
