Publix had the lowest price for five of the 10 erectile dysfunction drugs in October 2019. However, ordering online offers conveniences and added services that aren’t available from brick-and-mortar retailers.
The average prices for erectile dysfunction drugs fluctuate slightly from month to month, according to Secure Medical’s monthly review of prescription drug prices. However, cost-conscious shoppers willing to take the time to study those prices on a month-to-month basis can usually find a prescription drug retailer with a price below the average. And sometimes, that savings per pill can add up when you’re buying a number of tablets at one time.
Viagra: For example, in October 2019, the average price for a 100-milligram tablet of Viagra was $77.05. However, Publix was selling the drug for only $71.47, $5.58 below the average. If you’re planning to purchase 10 tablets of Viagra, making that buy at Publix could save you nearly $56.00.
Sildenafil: The average price for 100-milligram sildenafil citrate, the generic equivalent of Viagra, was $24.89 in October. Careful shoppers could opt to buy the drug at either CVS or Target for only $14.78 a pill, saving more than $10 per tablet. CVS owns and operates the pharmacy departments in Target stores.
Levitra: At $52.13 per 20-milligram tablet, Publix had the lowest price for Levitra in October 2019. The price at Publix was roughly 8.5 percent lower than Levitra’s average price of $56.98 for the month.
Vardenafil: Shoppers for vardenafil, the generic equivalent of Levitra, could find the lowest price for the drug at Costco, the nationwide chain of discount warehouse clubs. Costco’s price of $12.25 per 20-milligram tablet was 42 percent lower than October’s average price of $21.21 for vardenafil.
Cialis: Publix once again had the lowest price for a 20-milligram tablet of Cialis, the formulation of the ED drug that is taken on-demand in advance of sexual activity. The supermarket chain’s price of $72.93 was more than $3 cheaper than the October 2019 average price of $76.05.
Tadalafil: With a price of $21.83 per 20-milligram tablet, CVS and Target posted the lowest price for tadalafil, the generic equivalent of Cialis. Their price was 23 percent below tadalafil’s average price of $28.37 in October.
Cialis daily: The lower-strength (2.5 to 5 milligrams) formulation of Cialis is prescribed as a daily therapy designed to enable men with ED to get and keep an erection whenever the time is right. In October, Publix had the best deal for a 5-milligram of Cialis daily at $12.23, well below the average price of $20.93 for the month.
Tadalafil daily: The lowest October 2019 price for tadalafil daily, the generic equivalent of Cialis daily, was found at both Kroger and Fred’s. Their price of $3.49 for a 20-milligram tablet of the drug was nearly 71 percent lower than the average price of $12.01 for October.
Staxyn: At $34.47, Walmart had the lowest price for a 10-milligram tablet of Staxyn, an orosoluble form of vardenafil hydrochloride, the same active ingredient in Levitra. Walmart’s price was only slightly lower than October’s average price of $35.50 for the medication, which dissolves quickly in the mouth and can be taken without water.
Stendra: Publix’s price of $65.47 for a 100-milligram tablet of Stendra (avanafil) was 59 cents lower than October’s average price of $66.06 for the drug.
