A pilot study about erectile dysfunction looked at the effects of KaempMax™, a Kaempferia parviflora (also called Thai black ginger) ethanol extract, on middle-aged and older men with mild erectile dysfunction.
The Erectile Dysfunction Study
The study, which was published in June 2018 in the Journal of Integrative Medicine, was done by scientists at Life Extension, a dietary supplement company.
In the clinical trial, 13 men between 50 and 68 years took 100 mg of KaempMax daily for 30 days. They were asked to rate their erectile function using the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) and the Global Assessment Question.
According to Life Extension’s press release on the study, most of the men “found the study product satisfactory and no serious adverse effects were reported.” The company stated that there was “statistically significant improvement in erectile function, intercourse satisfaction and total scores on the IIEF questionnaire.”
The study’s lead author says that the research team is hopeful that the findings will spur larger trials of the effects of KaempMax on erectile dysfunction.
