A box office success
But the low-budget Indian Hindi comedy-drama about impotence, “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan” is doing surprisingly well at the box office. In addition to a great script, part of the success is being attributed to the chemistry between the lead characters, Bhumi Pednekar and Ayushmann Khurrana.
What’s interesting is that neither “erectile dysfunction” or “impotence” are actually said in the movie, but rather the ED is referred to as a “gent’s problem.”
In the movie, the lead actor who plays the soon-to-be groom suffering from erectile dysfunction, goes into a deep depression. He wants to call off the wedding. It doesn’t help that the doctor he sees for his ED says it’s all because of stress. Who wouldn’t be stressed about preparing to marry the girl of your dreams when you have erectile dysfunction? It’s an endless cycle.
Erectile dysfunction in real life
Spoiler alert: the lead character finally gets over his erectile dysfunction. But in real life, it’s not always a happy ending just for trying a little harder.
There are a lot of reasons men suffer from ED; sometimes it’s physical (such as a side effect from prostate cancer treatment), and sometimes it’s mental (e.g., stress, depression, anxiety). Regardless of the cause, many men find that ED drugs like Viagra are all it takes to get an erection.
These ED drugs are FDA approved and require a prescription, which helps ensure you’re getting authentic medicines and not dangerous or useless fakes.
If you suffer from erectile dysfunction, don’t try to “shake it off” and tell yourself that it’s all in your head. Talk to your doctor about getting a prescription for Viagra so you can get on with your sex life.
