You can diet and attend a barbeque, we’ll tell you how.
With Memorial Day just around the corner, your friends and neighbors will pull out their grill and get ready for some outdoor fun. Who doesn’t look forward to a good BBQ with friends? Anyone who’s dieting, that’s who. While catching up with friends is great, it’s hard to resist the array of tasty treats – and most of all – the tasty beverages.

Never fear, we’ve got a list of dieting tips for all of you BBQ lovers:

Eat before you go

If you eat before you go to the party, you’ll be full and less likely to gorge on junk food. Try to eat a healthy meal, that way you can treat yourself to a few goodies.

Don’t hang out near the food table

When you’re at the party, try not to chat with people who are hovering near the snacks. If you’re near it, you’ll eat it. It’s as simple as that. You could be popping chips in your mouth while talking to a buddy and not even know it.

Chew gum

Before you arrive, pop in a piece of gum. If you can keep that minty taste in your mouth it could deter you from grazing on food.

Bring a healthy dish

One sure fire way to guarantee a healthy snack option is to bring one yourself. It’s a party; you’re supposed to bring a dish to pass, so why not make something that you know you can munch on while you’re there?

Be sure to exercise that day

If you’ve got a party scheduled for the afternoon, try to get your exercise in during the morning. A lot of people forgo exercising and eat too much at parties, so don’t set yourself up for a double whammy.

Add water

It’s a party, so of course you’ll have a beer, but try to swap a beer out for a bottle of water. Aside from staying hydrated, you’ll feel full and less likely to refill your plate or grab another beer.
