With the arrival of the comedy “Love and Other Drugs,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a pharmaceutical rep pedaling Viagra in the midst of its heyday, we can’t help but get nostalgic about the other “celebrity appearances” Viagra has made over the years. Road Trip (2000)
Josh and his girl Tiffany have been together forever, but when Josh thinks she’s with another guy, he has a momentary lapse and sleeps with sexy co-ed, Beth. Naturally, the whole thing gets taped, and the tape sent to Tiff at college. In an effort to intercept the package, Josh collects a few of his wayward pals and sets off on a Road Trip from Ithaca, New York to Austin, Texas. The group runs into a myriad of hilarious situations along the way, one of which includes being saluted by the stiffy of an old man who has clearly made friends with Vitamin V. Gramps makes no bones about his erection and wears it proud, breaking a knickknack with his pole as he exists the room with the boys in tow. Good times.
Clip Exclaimer: By the way, you might want to brush up on your spanish as this clip is the only one we could find with the above mentioned scene… it’s still Oh so funny.
I Think I Love My Wife (2007)
What happens when you think you love your wife and you want to make crazy, passionate love to her? You take the Viagra your boss gives you, of course. The problem lies in when you go to get funky and find your wife is already asleep. Four hours and one raging erection later, you’re on the way to the hospital with a female paramedic wielding a giant needle above your goods and no action to show for your troubles. Moral of this story: Only take Viagra if you know your partner is going to be conscious enough to enjoy your results.
Scary Movie 4 (2006)
It’s a stretch to think that, given his history, Charlie Sheen would ever need to down Viagra, but that’s exactly what his character did in Scary Movie 4. After chugging heaps of the drug, Sheen’s character sports a woody so huge that the cat can’t help but use it as a scratching post. After Sheen’s had enough, he hurls himself over his building’s balcony, where his erection pummels into the ground and holds the character’s lifeless body a good foot or two off the ground. Now that’s one hard lesson learned.
The 40 Year Old Virgin (IMDB)
Poor Andy (Steve Carrell) is 40 years old and has never done the deed with a woman, but you’d never know it by the size of the erection he sports in the opening scenes of The 40-Year-Old Virgin. In fact, he’s standing so tall that his first whiz of the day is tough to accomplish and he must bend into a 90-degree angle just to hit the toilet. Morning wood at its best.
AnchorMan: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004)
What’s a perv to do when a pretty blond says all the right things and is gorgeous to boot? While a television studio may not be the ideal place to sport wood (and a coworker not the ideal person to sport it around), Will Farrell’s character in Anchorman obliviously pitches a tent while we all watch in horror. Whether he’s a sleaze or not, it’d be hard not to be at least a little flattered by eliciting such a “rise.”
While stiffies in movies took a while to find a place of their own, we’re happy to see them displayed loud and proud in today’s media. Or, at least, we’re thankful for the hilarity they evoke. Many thanks, Viagra.
