How he did it
Gibson’s wife started crying while watching an episode of Biggest Loser. She told her husband she was worried his life would be cut short because of this weight.
Gibson decided to make a change. He started to diet and exercise.
“I always tell people it’s the three p’s: persistence, passion and perseverance,” Gibson said.
He says losing weight is all about making gradual changes.
“I loved fried chicken, so I decided I would eat six pieces instead of eight,” Gibson tells CNN. “Then I’d reduce it further to four pieces, and then eventually dropped fried chicken all together. I ate meat more like it was a protein condiment. Now I don’t eat any meat at all. I’m a dedicated vegan.”
Gibson got some support from Ryan Blanck, CEO of offtrackonpurpose.com. With some positive reinforcement, all done online, Gibson found the power to stick to his healthy routine.
Obesity wasn’t in his genes
Gibson’s mom was always a size 6 and his dad had a great appetite, but always managed to stay in shape.

The family never talked about eating healthy, so it’s something Gibson had to learn from scratch.
It took him two years, but he lost 245 pounds. Now, he uses his story to inspire others to lose weight.
“This weight loss has transformed my life,” Gibson said. “It’s totally possible. You just have to hold yourself accountable.”
