Surgery to remove the mass is expensive. Warren needed help.L0821
A Las Vegas man is recovering after surgeons removed a 100+ mass from his body. Wesley Warren was diagnosed with scrotal lymphedema, a rare medical condition that makes the scrotum swell. In Warren’s case, his scrotum ballooned to 132 pounds.

TLC follows Warren

Warren’s struggle is documented in a one hour TLC special that will air this Monday.  The show called, “The Man With a 132 Pound Scrotum” follows Warren through the entire medical process, including interviews with Warren about the embarrassing condition.

“There are a lot of people that will look and laugh and stare in shock and awe and amazement,” Warren told TLC. “It’s tough to deal with it, you know, because essentially, this is a sort of living and breathing freak show.”

Doctors told him he needed an expensive surgery to fix the problem. Warren went on the Howard Stern show asking for help and found a California doctor willing to do the surgery for free.

Warren’s condition

Despite what many websites would have you believe, Viagra requires a prescription.
A urologist specializing in rare conditions like Warren’s offered to do the surgery for free.

According to CNN, scrotal lymphedema, also known as scrotal elephantiasis, is a “massive enlargement” of the scrotum due to thickening of tissue and accumulation of fluid. Doctors say the condition involves blocked vessels that aren’t able to drain fluids properly.

The actual number of cases in the U.S. is so small that statistics are hard to come by.  Warren’s doctor, Dr. Joel Gelman, hopes the show will shed light on this condition.

Warren is doing well. He’s able to walk and go about his normal life. He will need a follow up surgery to remove some additional skin that was damaged by his condition.
