Viagra may help women conceive
A new study shows Viagra may help women that have difficulty conceiving. Geoffrey Sher, of the Sher Institute for Reproductive Medicine in Las Vegas, had a group of patients that couldn’t get pregnant because their uterine lining was too thin. An embryo needs the lining to implant itself on, but if the lining is too thin the embryo doesn’t “stick.”
In a small study of just four patients, she prescribed Viagra. At the end of the trial in 2011, three of the women conceived and two of the four have given birth to healthy babies.
Battling Muscular Dystrophy
A recent study shows improved heart function in mice with a muscular dystrophy. The condition, known as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, is a genetic disorder that causes a gradual breakdown of the heart muscles. Mice with this condition improved with Viagra.
While the blue pill won’t cure the condition, it could be used in combination with other therapies to treat the condition. Researchers from the University of Washington are hoping human trials will show similar results.
Viagra and depression

A recent study shows Viagra may help depressed women enjoy sex once again. The study followed 98 patients with an average age of 37. All of the women were taking antidepressants and agreed to be part of the trial. Each woman agreed to commit to sex at least once week while taking a pill before sex. They didn’t know if they were taking Viagra or a placebo. The results showed 72% of women taking Viagra did have improved orgasms compared to those not taking the pill.
