Does Size Really Matter?

You’re probably thinking that I’m about to discuss penis size, but I’m not.  There is something that is even more important to a healthy sex life, and that is the ability to perform or not perform.  Body size is not only important in terms of maintaining a healthy heart, but it is also vital in some instances to maintain healthy sexual function.

Studies have found that men who are either overweight or underweight often experience sexual disorders, and this is directly attributed to their weight.  In contrast, the opposite seems to be true in women.  Women who are underweight or overweight actually have improved sexual function.

A study conducted in Denmark found that there are some very direct relationships between lifestyle choices and sexual performance.   Underweight men were found to be 22 times more likely to experience erectile dysfunction, loss of climax, discomfort during sex, and loss of stamina.

Overweight men, including any men with waists over 40 inches, were 71% more likely to have these same sexual dysfunctions as compared to more average sized men.

There is no clean-cut answer why body weight has this correlation to sexual disorders.  There are theories that it may be related to heart function, but more research will be needed before a definite answer can be given.

In contrast to men, women have a 50% LESS chance of sexual problems when they are underweight.  Obese women had a 70% less chance of having any type of sexual dysfunction.  The problems observed in women included vaginal dryness, inability to climax, pain during sex, and involuntary spasms of the vagina.  It turns out that women of normal-weight have the highest instances of these problems.

“The differences between men and women with respect to sexual dysfunction were surprising,” says study researcher Morten Frisch, DSc, associate professor at the Staten Serum Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark. “There may be a plausible explanation. Women who experience trouble may quit having sex altogether while men may continue, particularly into the older ages.”

If you are experiencing erectile dysfunction, there are medicines such as Viagra and Cialis readily available to get you back in the game.  There is no reason to continue to suffer with any of these disorders when there are simple and safe solutions to the problem.
