If you were headed to Alabama with a suitcase full of whips, Cialis and Medieval armor to attend the Southeast Dark Ages Festi, val in March, you’re about to be disappointed.

A “knight” of kink

The Southeast Dark Ages Festival has been canceled after the husband-and-wife team who own the Southern Pillar Campground learned that the event was being touted as a “weekend of fun-filled debauchery” and “sexual play” from a flier. The flier also mentioned “consensual kink” and the use of intoxicants.

“When I became aware of it, I immediately said I’m not in support of this,” said the campground’s owner, Patrick Faircloth. “We don’t even allow alcohol. Now, if someone wants to rent it out for a bachelor party or something, we consider that an ‘adult weekend.’ But some of the stuff in the flier could be construed as illegal.”

Faircloth and his wife, Laurel, consulted an attorney before notifying organizers of the event that they were cancelling the festival’s reservation. It was estimated that 200 people would have attended.

Bring your raincoat for the raincheck

It’s not clear if the event has been rescheduled for another location, as the Facebook page promoting the festival has been removed. But a video for the event mentions whips, domination, BDSM, consensual sex and nudity.

One can only imagine that events being promoted as “kinky Ren Fairs” will include a lot of erectile dysfunction drugs, such as Cialis, and—hopefully—a lot of condoms. A Twitter page for the event lists the price as $75 for the weekend and says, “All lifestyles are welcome.”

For men with erectile dysfunction who forget their Cialis, there’s still plenty to see and do. From a “whipping boy” and “king’s dinner” with wine, to dancing girls, a keynote speaker and “human furniture,” it’s easy to see why even the most robust of men might want some erectile dysfunction drugs to get him through the busy weekend.
