Man Says Nose Job Gave Him Permanent Erection
In what can only be filed under “Strange, But True,” 45-year-old Croatian stylist Neven Ciganovic claims that a botched nose job gave him a permanent and painful erection.

The Nose Surgery

The self-proclaimed “plastic surgery addict” flew to Iran to have rhinoplasty for what he believed was a crooked nose.

According to Ciganovic, he had a bad reaction to the general anesthesia. While under the anesthesia, the doctors diagnosed him with priapism. The rare disorder produces painful erections that last for hours.

As the commercials for erectile dysfunction pills often say, “see a doctor if your erection lasts longer than four hours,” as that is considered a medical emergency. That’s because an erection lasting that long can cause permanent damage, which may lead to erectile dysfunction later.

Unfortunately for Ciganovic, his priapism isn’t necessarily tied into sexual stimulation, which means:

  1. The erection won’t disappear after he has an orgasm.
  2. Anything that affects his nervous system can cause the long-lasting, painful erection to kick in.

The Penis Surgery

To relieve his long-lasting erections, Ciganovic had an operation in which a shunt was put into his penis. It works by creating an alternative route for blood flow to leave the penis, preventing the painful erections.

In addition to the surgery to help relieve the erections, Ciganovic admits to having had more than 12 operations, including three on his nose and others to change the look of his lips, chin and stomach.

Is he done with surgeries? Only time will tell. But Ciganovic does say he’s already considering getting additional non-surgical procedures. He’s thinking another “vampire face lift” (i.e., his own platelets are used as skin filler) will improve his looks.

But not everyone agrees. According to Ciganovic, he regularly hears that he looked better before surgery. Obviously, he disagrees, arguing that everyone looked better when they were younger.
