ECO-conscious consumers have been switching to aluminum bottles for thier children for years now, because of bisphenol-A or (BPA). BPA<\/a> is a substance commonly used to harden plastic that has raised health concerns and  buyers of plastic bottles. Aparently Sigg Switzerland has reported that Bottles made by the company before August 2008 had "trace amounts" of BPA in the epoxy liners.  Obscure Sigg officials knew it since June 2006, but didn’t announce it until last month.<\/p>\n

What Are People So Worried About?<\/h2>\n

Concerns about BPA stem from the fact that it can mimic estrogen, a powerful hormone. The Food and Drug Administration is reviewing its conclusion from last year that its use in baby bottles and food containers is safe for infants. But while scientists disagree about whether the very low doses found in bottles can be harmful, consumers have become increasingly wary about BPA. The maker of plastic Nalgene water bottles last year pulled bottles with BPA from stores because of growing consumer concern.<\/p>\n

Are we all Being Poisioned?<\/h2>\n

 As far as being Eco-friendly, the shocking facts came to light when, one whole year after changing their liner to a new “EcoCare” BPA-free formula, Sigg admitted the thruth. All companies need to be honest about what materials are in their merchandise. We are talking about our children’s drinking and feeding products, and our own. A lot more concern must be placed on regulating what chemicals are going into our eating, drinking, cooking and preperation accessories.  <\/p>\n
