\"\"<\/a>Approximately 30 million American men have trouble achieving or sustaining an erection, but this may only be part of the problems men are facing in the bedroom.<\/p>\n

A recent study done by physician-scientists at New York Presbyterian Hospital shows staggering statistics.\u00a0 About 65 percent of men are unable to have an orgasm and 58 percent have problems with ejaculation.\u00a0 While purchasing and using erectile dysfunctional medications<\/a> from a reputable source can help, doctors say they won’t cure everything.<\/p>\n

The problem:<\/strong>
\n“While medications like Viagra<\/a> or Cialis have been successful in helping many of these men, our research suggests there are other common sexual issues that remain largely unaddressed,” says Dr. Darius Paduch, the study’s lead author; male sexual medicine specialist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital\/Weill Cornell Medical Center; and assistant professor of urology and reproductive medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College.<\/p>\n

“We must expand the definition of quality of life when it comes to sexual performance,” Dr. Paduch adds. “For the last few decades, we have focused on penile rigidity, with erection as a synonym of normal sexual function. However, many patients say that problems with ejaculation — like decreased force or volume or decreased sensation of orgasm — are just as critical.<\/p>\n

The myth:<\/strong>
\nWhen it comes to struggles with an orgasm, it\u2019s often thought of as a female problem, but the research shows men struggle with this as well but don\u2019t report it.\u00a0 In the study more than 12,000 men participated and of those 26 percent say they had trouble climaxing.<\/p>\n

The root cause:<\/strong>
\nThere are a variety of things that can cause sexual dysfunction, including low testosterone, concussions, brain injuries, antidepressant medications and stress.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The domino effect:<\/strong>
\nSexual problems aren\u2019t an individual problem, they often effect relationships.<\/p>\n

“Sexual satisfaction is known to be linked to the likelihood of orgasm, which in turn affects emotional intimacy and relationship satisfaction. The high prevalence of both orgasmic and ejaculatory dysfunction warrants further clinical and translational research into new treatments to improve sexual health and overall quality of life for hundreds of thousands of affected men and their loved ones,” says Dr. Paduch.\u00a0 \u201cMen should talk to their doctor about options.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
